Coastal Bank is the first Local Area Bank licensed by Reserve Bank of India in 1999 and commenced its operations from 27th December 1999. The Bank is proud of celebrating its existence for two decades.
Coastal Bank is directly regulated by Reserve Bank of India. The Bank is subjected to regulatory supervision and control. The Bank complies with all supervisory advices/guidance.
The Bank is subjected to regulatory prescriptions such as Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR), Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR), External Benchmarking of loans etc.
Deposits of the customers are insured under Deposit and Insurance Scheme of DICGC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reserve Bank of India.
Shri K. Venkataraman, is a Master of Science in Agriculture and also a Fellow of Indian Institute of Banker. His successful banking career commenced with State Bank of India when he joined the Bank as Probationary Officer Sept 1978. He held prestigious assignments in SBI which include Vice President (Credit & Operations), Treasury and Funding operations, ALM and Investment Banking and Loan Syndication (for 4 years in Japan, Merchant Banking at SBI Corporate Centre, Mumbai (more than 2 years), Chief General Manager International Banking Group, Mumbai, till Feb 2011.
Shri Venkataraman then took over as Managing Director of Karur Vysya Bank Ltd in May 2011 and successfully lead the Bank to achieve greater business levels for more than six years till August 2017.
He has joined Coastal Bank as Addl. Director on 16.12.2017 and assumed charge as Chairman of the Bank from 1.11.2018
